Global Studies HW for week of October 18 2010
Both HWs due by Friday
HW #7
For HW #7 you have a choice.
You can either do:
1) Skim this website for interesting articles. Pick THREE issues that Haiti has to deal with today.
http://ijdh.org/library/publications
One paragraph: What are the three major issues Haiti has to deal with today? Why do you think they are major issues?
Second paragraph: For each issue, what might be a possible solution that you read about or consider could be done? Considering Haiti's history with America, does America have a responsibility to Haiti? Why or Why Not?
OR you can do this:
2) Create a 'music video' for Wyclef's song 'If I Was President' OR 'Hold On' (you can find the song on youtube). Your music video can be a collection of photographs about Haiti. They must include at least three images from the revolution, and then additional photos from Haiti's history and current day issues. You can put all the pictures together at the website I posted below (it's a website that lets you make slideshows with images). Make sure there are enough to full the song. You will also do some writing:
One Paragraph: Explain why you picked five of the images that you picked. What time period or event does each one represent? How do they tell the history of Haiti?
Second Paragraph: How does each one fit the message in Wyclef's song?
When you are done, email me the link to your photo slide show (MSALBU678@GMAIL.COM). After you upload the photos on to the website, there is a way to delete the cheesy music that comes with it (after you upload the photos you like, there is a 'music and photos' section - just delete the music - we'll play the youtube video over the images later. For now you will have a silent slide show of photos, and we can play the song over it afterwards).
