1. Watch the video of Obama's acceptance speech (youtube, cnn.com, abc.com, msnbc.com - take your pick of websites that show it). Pick three of your favorite quotes from the speech. Type them up and/or decorate them somehow. We will be posting them in the classroom.
2. What the "campaign highlights" video:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/world_news_america/7707452.stm
What do you think were the three MAIN turning points of the campaign? Which moments were most important in one way or another? 8th graders can write this in their historian's journals, 6/7s - I should have your journal so write this on a separate sheet of paper.
3. Pick two parts of the world described here:
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/11/05/reactions-from-around-the-world/
Then for each one answer:
What was the reaction in the parts of the world you chose? Why do you think this was the reaction?
Extra Credit:
4. Watch any other video on the website mentioned in #2 (there are other videos listed on the side of that website). What does the video you chose tell us (give us a summary of the details - one paragraph). Why did you pick it?
DUE THURSDAY, in class. 8th graders - in your journals (except for #1). 6/7 - separate sheet of paper.
